Few players in high school football generate more excitement than
Ryder Lyons of
Folsom (Calif.). The 6-foot-3, 225-pound senior quarterback has been electric under center for the Bulldogs, showcasing a rare combination of size, arm strength and athleticism. With two prolific seasons already under his belt, the five-star prospect enters his final campaign looking to add to an already impressive resume.
Lyons threw for 3,011 yards and 46 touchdowns as a junior while adding 585 rushing yards and 14 more scores on the ground. That followed a breakout sophomore season in which he passed for 3,578 yards and 38 touchdowns and ran for 929 yards and 23 touchdowns, leading Folsom to the CIF Division 1-A state championship. His ability to make plays through the air and with his legs has made him one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the country.

In their quest to reach the Open Division state championship game for the first time, the Bulldogs will be tested early with a daunting schedule that includes road games against Grant (Sacramento), Serra (San Mateo) and Mission Viejo. If it can navigate those matchups, Folsom could be in position to earn a shot at the state's biggest prize come December.
Still uncommitted, Lyons remains one of the top available prospects in the Class of 2026. Oregon and BYU appear to be the frontrunners in his recruitment.
